How do you heal from sexual abuse? What happens when the trauma becomes a story? The documentary blends facts with fiction and surrealism in a way that illustrates how strongly our memories can control the present. The fictitious scenes act
as a window to the past, that gets a new meaning and tone as the processing of the trauma advances. ‘Exposure’ is a hybrid documentary film that dives deep into the core of its topics. It explores the role of therapy in trauma treatment through the main subject’s experiences, and questions the surrounding society’s expectations on the victims’ recovery. ‘Exposure’ challenges a culture where the victims are pressured to get over their traumatic experiences fast, and shows that recovery is a complex and individual process.
